Just thought I would do a little update on the teeth situation. Went out on Saturday night for a meal and at the end they gave us a mint imperial (you'll get the relevance of this soon). Not being one to pass up a free sweet I took one and proceeded to munch away. Even before my teeth being done I used my back teeth for a lot of the hard work when eating. Also I'm not patient enough to suck on a mint for hours on end so started to give it a good crunch. Yowzer !!! I felt somat crack and it felt like my back tooth. Anyway didn't give it much thought as I couldn't feel any pain or anything.
Cut to the next day and I started to feel a bit of toothache. Great! I had a bit of a poke around and I could feel the very back tooth had cracked and I could wiggle the broken bit. Oh by the way this isn't one of my new teeth this is one of my original teeth right at the back. I didn't have them done cos you can't see them when I smile and they have white fillings in so looked okay (ish). Just goes to show that my original teeth were coming to the end of their 'best'.
I booked in at my Dentist first thing this morning and they were able to get me in just after lunchtime. Anyway, my dentist had a quick look and said I'd defo cracked it and it was below the gum so he would patch it up and see how I went on but it would probably need a crown and gave me a quick injection to numb me up. During the time it took to go numb, while he was out of the room I was chatting to the dental nurse. She explained I'd had crowns not veneers as veneers are usually just the front bit of the tooth. I asked if veneers were the same price she said no usually a bit cheaper but not much. I explained to the dentist when he returned I'd just had the others done in Turkey and was probably going to have the rest done this year. He asked how much everything cos and I told him and he couldn't believe it. He then had a look at my teeth, presumably in the hope he could say "I can see why they are shocking". But he said "they've done a pretty good job to be fair". Which was a close as he probably wanted to say without saying they were as good as he would of done Im sure.
Out of interest I asked how much a crown costs there if I did need it done....Wait for it. £750. FOR ONE!! I could get 5 out of the 8 done for that price. Even if I paid £250 for a flight and £50 a night for accommodation it would be a damn site cheaper than paying £750 for all 8 teeth. It would cost me £6000 to get all eight done here. I could probably get a boob job too for that price in Turkey lol. Not that I want one or anything, I've got enough with my own Moobs, I don't want any more thanks. So that's made my mind up. As soon as I have the money I am getting the others done, then I won't have any problems with the back ones which are really short now with all the chewing over the years.
So now I feel even more like I got a bargain. Even more so cos the dentist didn't say "what the hell had they done. lol.
