Back on Track

Just a quick round-up of my weekend.

Well, I am back into my routine of 'rise at five' and I always think if you can do it on dark mornings then you will find it a doddle on the light mornings in Spring and Summer. It took me a while after Benidorm to get my body clock back into its rhythm. I actually woke up before my sad alarm clock this morning and it hadn't even started to glow. I was up showered, read a chapter of my latest book with my Lumie lightbox on, did some push-ups, had Pure Joy morning blend in my morning coffee

and was walking Bella in the pitch black all before 6am.

It's a really nice time of the day because hardly anybody is stirring and it's just quite peaceful. It will be interesting as well to see the difference it makes to my steps because I'm probably a lot more physically active in those early hours than I am in the evening when I'm just sat on the sofa watching TV. It just feels like you get a head start on the day and aren't running around like a headless chicken trying to play catch up when you get up at the last minute.

Doing the 10,000 steps a day challenge for Mind this month is already helping me be more

aware of my activity. I was gutted the other day as I didn't manage to hit my target for the day (did 8650) as I was out on the road and driving most of the day. Even though it will average out over the month, I decided to make up the difference the next day so that I was back on track.

I have also reactivated my Geocache account and downloaded the app. I signed up back in 2018 but then didn't really do much with it. It's a great way to give yourself a focus when you are in different places. The basic concept is that it's kinda like a big global treasure hunt. Being the big kid that I am I love the whole finding things and looking for hidden caches. I have even hidden my first cache near to where I live as the idea is to hide them in places of beauty/interest so that people can visit while looking for your cache. You can hide what they call micro ones which is usually a tiny tube with a small rolled-up piece of paper in (the log book) so you can log your name and date when you find it. There are also larger ones that you can hide "treasure" for people to take when they find yours. These can be anything from stickers to items. I have ordered some nice glass stones to leave in some of mine. I am going to hide a few near me so they are easy for me to maintain and keep on top of the items in them etc. People of all ages including families get involved so if this is something you like the sound of then here is the LINK.

I found 3 over the weekend, which meant I had a reason to go out walking even if Bella wasn't always up for it lol. The first was pretty difficult to find as it was tiny and hidden well, but I got a few clues from the person who hid it and eventually found it. The second 2 were pretty easy (thank god lol). They were all hidden by the same person so I would have looked thick had I needed clues for those too lol.

Oh and I am also doing well on the fitness kick as I have lost 8lbs already and I am feeling much better as I am seeing a difference in how my clothes fit. Jay also commented that he could tell I had lost weight so that was a nice boost as he doesn't give out compliments easily

I made my next lot of Tumeric and ginger juices ready for the week and this time made:-

  • Tumeric, Carrot and Orange

  • Ginger, Cucumber & Apple (plus a bit of Celery I had left over)

I even made the most of the pulp I generated from my juicing. I saved the cucumber so I can make some Tzatziki and the carrot pulp to add to cooking and also to Bellas next batch of homemade dog food as I know she loves carrots. I'm doing my best to be as eco as possible and put as little into landfill as I can. I did notice actually that my grey bin has a lot of plastic bags from food items in it and I remembered that you can actually recycle these at Tesco. So that is going to be my next mission to start collecting these and drop them off each time I go.

Got my delivery of Splesh toilet rolls for me, mum and Kirsty. 72 rolls for £15!!! I love a bargain, especially for things like look roll that you need to have stock of all the time. It's pretty good quality too as it's 3ply and actually better than the ones I bought from Aldi the other day, so pretty pleased with myself. I dropped mum's off at her house so she's sorted for bog roll for a while. Just need to drop Kirsty's off next. Worked out at £5 for 24 rolls each, brilliant!

My replacement water bottle arrived too from SHO so I feel like I am getting lots of things ticked off my To Do Lists as I lost my last bottle before I even left the country

to go to Benidorm. I think when I put my rucksack through airport security they must have taken it out and put in a separate tray to scan it and I didn't notice. All is good though as got a new one. They keep your water cold for about 12 hours and hot drinks hot for what feels like forever, so great for me when I am out on the road as I can keep a drink with me hot or cold.

Then final thing ticked off this weekend was getting the two big plants dug out of my front garden. I had mentioned it to my neighbour Barry a few weeks ago as he is a bodybuilder and grave digger so I knew had the right skill set. It has been raining since I mentioned it but he said every time he turned the corner in his car it was lie the plants were calling his name lol. He pulled up and had already dug the smaller one out before I even knew he was there. so I went out to lend a hand (not that I was much use). I nearly snapped my spade trying to pry the plant out (that will defo be going back to B&Q). It felt so good once they were all out and the garden was clear. I can now try and picture what I want to do with it now it's a blank canvas. I am defo having fake grass on there with some blue pots but can't decide if to make the small border slightly higher or if to have a couple more planters at the bottom near the path to give it a proper boundary.

So got quite a bit done over the weekend. None of this would have happened if it was the old me and I had gone out on the Friday cos I would have felt rough all weekend and done nothing.

Also I have highlighted in red and products I have mentioned as put a link so you can view the products if they are of interest.

The future is defo being Alcohol-Free :-)

Oh and The new Series of Big Brother (UK) has started on ITVX - My life is complete lol.
